Mauricio Pochettino believes Tottenham 'are not focused on winning titles' with the manager confessing he currently has the worst feeling he has experienced during his four-year tenure.

Spurs have spent £254m on new signings since Pochettino arrived in 2014, but the Argentine has a net spend of £29m compared to £200m by Chelsea and £518m by Manchester City in that time.

The Argentine has, in spite of the lack of spending, guided the club to three consecutive top three finishes as well as Tottenham's best start to a Premier League season with seven wins from their opening nine games.
Pochettino has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United, while Real Madrid appear to be on the look-out for a new manager - and Pochettino's frustration now appears to have reached a tipping point.

"My feeling is the worst feeling," he said. "Out of nearly five years of starts to the season, is the worst. But is the best start for the club ever in the Premier League.

" The club is not focused completely on winning titles. Today we spend a lot of energy on many things. One is to win games, but it is not the priority to win games. The club needs to be more focused on winning titles. The way we have been competing in the last few years, the frustration is massive because we have had less in every single aspect."
"This season my feeling is the worst, I don't know why, it is so difficult to explain, because the circumstance because many things happened, disappointed because we are still waiting for the new stadium and the expectation was to be there.

"My feeling is not the best feeling. I had a better feeling in pre-season.
"It is easy to see in the last few years how we act in front of the market, how we act in front of everything and how the other teams were acting. That is the difference. I think that talk for us is, to repeat, what you know and we know.

"Everything is not perfect but we are in a circumstance and a project that is completely different to another club, at the moment."

Tottenham were dealt a blow last Friday when it was announced their multi-million pound new stadium will not be completed before the New Year, following a series of delays.

Pochettino is yet to win any silverware since joining Tottenham, and he admits his team has failed during his reign.

"Like a team, we still didn't win nothing and we fail, but we achieve. Like a final game we always fail," he added.

"It's about to learn to compete, it's about to learn to be better, to change something that maybe we need to do different, or maybe we are never going to learn because we have some quality but we cannot cross this level.

"I prefer to think we have more [to give] and need more time to improve like a team. The mentality is to win and to reach the last level.

"Still we need to improve and still to be a real contender we need to achieve another level [but] still we are not showing that level to be a real contender, that is my opinion."
