Jadon Sancho says he is "confident" Borussia Dortmund can win the Bundesliga title in 2019/20, after running record champions Bayern Munich so close last season and making some big summer signings.

Dortmund led the standings for much of the 2018/19 campaign, but Bayern fought back to turn a nine-point deficit into a decisive two-point advantage and deny BVB a first Bundesliga crown since 2012.

Determined to go one better next term, Dortmund have already added Julian Brandt, Thorgan Hazard, Mats Hummels, Mateu Morey and Nico Schulz to their ranks - additions Sancho believes will make the Black-Yellows even stronger.

"They’re all fantastic players," the 19-year-old told media during Dortmund's pre-season US tour. "They’ve settled in well and are training hard.

"Mats [Hummels], in particular, is so experienced. He’s really difficult to play against. He’s a fantastic player."

Hummels was part of the last Dortmund team to win the Bundesliga title, and is fresh off three successive league triumphs with Bayern.

At 30, he’s got 11 years on Sancho, but the England international believes his side have the necessary mix of younger and older faces to end Bayern’s reign.

"We’re a young team, but we’ve got more experience now," Sancho explained.

"We’ve been playing really good football in training. If we can stay fit and keep everyone who’s here now, I’m confident we can win the title."

Sancho, who produced 12 goals and a league-high 14 assists last season, will get the chance to test Dortmund’s title credentials when they host Bayern in the German Supercup on 3 August.

"I’m looking forward to it, and I’m sure they’re looking forward to playing us again as well.

"It’s going to be an exciting season."
