Porto sign Pepe should Celtic reignite interest in Chancel Mbemba? Featured

Celtic have done plenty of transfer business in the past week.

The attacking areas of the field have been greatly reinforced. Oliver Burke, Timothy Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo have all arrived at the club and Celtic look very strong in attack now.

However, Brendan Rodgers also needs to improve the club’s defence. With Dedryck Boyata set to leave and Filip Benkovic only on loan Celtic’s slim defensive options are only going to get thinner.

So should they look at a previously reported target, who would surely consider a move?
Celtic continued to be linked with the Newcastle United player over the next few months. However, he joined Porto in the summer for a fee in the region of £7.1 million.

His time at Porto has, so far, been a disappointment. After recovering from a knee injury he has not been a regular feature for the first-team.
He has played just twice in the Portuguese league and was playing for the B team as recently as last month.

Just when things were improving for the player, after playing 90 minutes v Nacional at the weekend, Porto went and signed Pepe on a free pushing him further down the pecking order.

Celtic would be bringing in a talented centre-back in Mbemba and given his current situation at Porto it is surely a deal they could get done.

He is surely a player they should look into again.
